He was born May 7, 1917 in Hidalgo, the son of Otto and Ada (Bilby) Chancy. He married Beatrice "Bee" Cummins who survives him.
He was a Civil Service worker with the U.S. Government, attended the Methodist Church, was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, and a member of American Legion Post 285 in Orlando, Fla.
He is survived by one brother, Fred Chaney of Ft. Myers, Fla., and one sister, Mrs. Lucille Allison of Champaign.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Funeral service was at 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 25, 1999 at Barkely Funeral Home in Greenup. Burial was in Westlawn Cemetery in Newton, with graveside military rites. Visitation was Tuesday, August 24 from 6-8 p.m. at Barkley Funeral Home in Greenup.
