He was a native and longtime resident of York County before moving to Norfolk in 2001. He was a graduate of York High School class of 1969 and Virginia Tech class of 1973. He was a teacher in the York County School Division for 30 years, teaching English at Tabb Intermediate and at Tabb High, until his retirement in June of 2003.
He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Gore-Pitt and her husband, Tony, of Yorktown; his son, Timothy Lewis Gore of Hampton; and his former wife, Nancy Gore of Yorktown. He is also survived by his brother, Robert Wayne Gore, and his sister, Gale Kooger, both of Richmond, Va.; and four nieces.
A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 1, in Amory Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Thurman Hayes officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
