Obituary-

David E. Dettmer, 73, Atchison, died Saturday, Oct. 19 (1996), at his home from cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, with Rev. David Culver, pastor of the First Christian Church, officiating. Services by the Martha Washington Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star will be held in conjunction with the funeral services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Contributions in his memory may be made to the First Christian Church Van Fund.

Mr. Dettmer was born Oct. 24, 1922, in Winkler. He moved to Atchison in 1948, where he had made his home since. He was employed at Rockwell International for 39 years, retiring in 1987.

He and Betty J. Shaver were married in 1943 at the First Christian Church in Manhattan. She survives of the home. He is also survived by two daughters, Betty Sue Thomas of Atchison, and Cynthia Lou Nohe of Palm Harbor, Fla.; two brothers, Wesley Dettmer of Manhattan and Elmer Dettmer of Randolph; one sister, Helen DeWyke of Waterville; five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers.
