Susannah was the daughter of Mary (Hall) and John
Leach. She was a sister of William W., Enos, Peter, John A. James, Meredith, Anderson and
Elias Leach.
On August 24th, 1820, she married John Hines, son of James and Sarah (Prichard) Hines.
John and Susannah were the parents of my great
grandmother, Sarah Ann (Hines) Runion, and from
her obituary, Sarah Ann was eight years old when
she, with her parents, moved to Hendricks Co.,
Indiana from Kentucky. Sarah Ann was born in Ky. 10-28-1828, thus making the move in 1836.
I have since learned that John and Susannah were
also the parents of William (1824) and James (1839). There has been mention of another child,
that died in Ky. However, it's possible, the other child could have been another married daughter, that died shortly after coming to Indiana. I certainly would like to know for certain.
After the death of John, Susannah remarried to
Barney C. Russell Sr. on 1-31-1854 in Hendricks Co. Indiana. He is buried in the Russell/McCloud
Cemetery. I do not know where John and Susannah
are buried. Possibly where they were living at the time, or perhaps in Susannah's parents cemetery. Several unanswered questions!
