Mr. Michael George Talbot, age 77, of Rock Creek Road, Hays died Saturday, February 7, 2004 at Wilkes Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Talbot was born in London, England, October 24, 1926. He attended grammar school at Westminister Cathedral, London, high school at St. Peters, London, and Salesian College, London. He joined the British Royal Marines at age 17, obtaining rank of TQMS. He served in World War II and was a bodyguard to Lord Louis Mountbatten. After the service he was co operator of Le Fleur Pub in Guildford, Surrey. He came to the United States in 1958 by way of Canada, where he was driver for the British Ambassador. While living in New York, he worked for Victor Emanuel, founder of Avco Corporation, William S. Paley, founder of CBS as his estate manager in Nassau, Bahamas. Returning to New York, he was employed by George Abbott, founder of Ithaca Industries. He retired from Ithaca in 1993. He later worked in delivery for local flower shops.

Mr. Talbot is survived by his wife, Mary Dancy Talbot of the home.

The family will receive at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 Monday night.

Private funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Hobert Key.
