Rufus Dodd Services Held At BG Baptist

Services were held Saturday, Oct. 16, in the First Baptist Church for Rufus C. Dodd, 84, who died Thursday, Oct. 14.

Officiating at the service was the Rev. W.A. Corley, pastor of First Baptist, and the Rev. Henry Grubbs. Burial followed at Rose Hill Cemetery, with graveside services under the direction of the Blooming Grove Masonic Lodge and conducted by Floyd Armstrong, assisted by Bud Armstrong and Jimmy Garrison. Arrangements were under the direction of Bradley Funeral Home.

A BG resident for 19 years, Dodd was a member of the First Baptist Church. A retired employee of Proctor and Gamble Co. in Dallas, he was a member of the Frost Chapter of Eastern Star and a member of the BG Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Winnie Dodd of Blooming Grove; two brothers, Walter Dodd of West Plains, Mo. and Homer Dodd of Dallas; a sister, Mrs. Mary Cottongame of Big Spring; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were members of the BG Masonic Lodge and included Edd Hill, Jimmy Garrison, Ordway Farrell, R.V. Burns, Drew Gillen and Rufus Putman.
