US Congressman, 13th Indiana Governor, US Senator. Elected to represent Indiana's 7th District in the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1840 to 1843. Served as Governor of Indiana for two days, January 14 to 16, 1861. Elected as a Senator from Indiana to the United States Senate, serving from 1861 to 1867.
