Mrs. Scott was born November 22, 1914, in Stokes County, to the late Columbus Flanoy and Mary Elisabeth Hooker Fain.
She retired from Hanes Corporation and was a member of White Plains Baptist Church for over 65 years.
She is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Rayford Fain and Elsie of King; a "special niece," Diane Scritchfield of Mount Airy; two special great nieces and their spouses, Thresa Tucker and David of Mount Airy and Misty Thurman and John of Rocky Mount, VA; two "special great nephews" and a spouse, Teddy Hiatt of Mount Airy and Anthony Scritchfield and Tori of Dobson; and several other nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Scott was preceded in death by three sisters, Beatrice Harrell, Margie Lee, and Cricket Westmoreland; and two brothers, Ralph Fain and Amos Fain.
The funeral service will be held Friday, December 27, 2013, at 2:00 PM at White Plains Baptist Church. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Bill Tucker, the Rev. Tom Delph, the Rev. Teddy Hiatt, and the Rev. David Tucker, and burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at White Plains Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to White Plains Christian School, 609 Old Highway 601, Mount Airy, NC 27030; or Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
