She was born March 17, 1909, in Surry County to the late Lester and Ellen Ashburn Swift.
She was a homemaker and was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Nancy Johnson of Mount Airy; five grandchildren, Jennifer and John Galyon, Kevin Johnson, Suzanne and Gene Harris, Tammy Hopkins and Beth Adams; four great-grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law, Betty Sue and Bobby Vestal; two half brothers, R.J. Atkins and Kenneth Swift; and special nieces and friends, Pansy Davis, Lois Davis, Jean Moore and Virginia Ables.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by one son, Carlis Elwood Johnson; one grandson, Carlis E. Johnson Jr.; one sister, Lillie Adams; one half sister, Mary Jane Pack; and two half brothers, Paul Swift and Claude Swift.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, April 6, 2011, at 2 p.m. at Skyline Memory Gardens with service conducted by the Rev. Darrell Tate.
The family will receive friends Wednesday at Moody Funeral Home from noon until time to go to Skyline Memory Gardens.
Flowers will be accepted.
The family would like to give a special thank you to her social worker Tonya Moore and to Carolina Select Home Care workers Glenda Hanks and Patricia Cave and to Golden Living-Surry Community especially to the Physical Therapy Unit for all their love and care given to Mrs. Johnson.
