Miss Bertha Irene Lockaby, age 89 of King, passed away peacefully at home on August 9, 2012.

Miss Lockaby was born in Henderson County on February 11, 1923 to William Oscar and Gertrude Beck Lockaby.

She was retired from AT&T and was a member of King First Baptist Church.

Surviving are sisters, Eva Gordon and Estelle Atkins, a sister-in-law, Marion Lockaby and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Miss Lockaby was preceded in death by a sister, Mamie Goins, a brother, William Lockaby and three brothers-in-law.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, August 12, 2012 at King First Baptist Church by Rev. Ken Evans. Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of King at 108 E. School St., King, NC 27021 or to Mountain Valley Hospice at 401, Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mt. Airy, NC 27030.
