ENOCH Y. HOUTZ
SPRINGVILLE- Enoch Y. Houtz, 74, died Friday at 7:10 a.m. at a Salt Lake City hospital following a lingering illness.
Mr. Houtz worked in the building and bridge department of the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad Co. for 22 years until his retirement in 1942 because of ill health.
He was born May 8, 1875, in Springville, a son of Jacob and Anna Bringhurst Houtz. He was educated in Springville schools and at Brigham Young university. He married Irinda Spafford Oct. 17, 1919, in Salt Lake City. Hr. Houtz was a veteran of World War I.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 1 p.m. in the Thirty-ninth ward chapel, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Friends may call at Claudin funeral home in Springville Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m. and the family home, 392 W. Center, Springville, Monday from 10 a.m. until time for services.
Burial will be in Springville city cemetery, and military honors will be accorded by Springville post of the American Legion.
