Emigrated to America in 1817, landing at Baltimore in destitute circumstances. Leaving Frederick, Maryland he went to Waynesboro, Franklin County, PA., and secured work at the destillery of Tobias Funk. In 1841 he removed to the farm of Daniel Winters, his father-in-law, and to a tract of 324 acres in Leitersburg District.

Children: David Beck; Elizabeth Beck, deceased, who married George A. Beard; Margaret Beck; Catharine Beck, and George Beck, all of whom died in childhood; Daniel Beck, married Catharine Sheley, and Benjamin Beck.
