Dr. William Rufus Dufphey, eldest son of Richard Dufphey and Prudence Hudson was born in Davie County, N.C. July 11th 1838, and died at Oldtown, Va., Nov 29th, 1906. Age 68 years 4mo, 18 days.
His father moved from Davie County, N.C., of Grayson Co. Va., in the year of 1849. He bought a farm near Providence Camp Ground, and lived there for a number of years, then he bought the Andrew Hampton farm on the New River.
Richard H married Prudence( born 1818) in 1840 in Davie County, NC.
Prudence died in 1844, in Mocksville, Davie County, NC and her grave has yet to be found.
