Funeral services for Miss Margaret Carstens, 88, were held Thursday, August 31, 1972 at 3 p.m. at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manilla with Rev. Robert Arends of the Manilla Presbyterian Church officiating.
Organist was Mrs. Trudy Saunders. Casket bearers were Alvin Milter, Harold Justice, Charles W Agan, Vernie Langheim, Lloyd Knott and Ralph Struve.
Interment was in the Manning Cemetery. Margaret Carstens was an aunt of Melroy, Albert (Kit) and Junior Carstens and Mrs. Christine McMahon.
Margaret Carstens daughter of Jurgen and Margaret Carstens was born at Westside, Iowa on February 22, 1884 and died at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison on August 29, 1972 at the age of 88 years, 6 months and seven days.
She received her education in the rural schools of the Westside and Botna areas and later moved to Aspinwall and then to Manilla. While in Manilla she operated a hotel for many years and cared for her father until his death. She then moved to Sioux City where she was employed.
Three years ago she entered Eventide Nursing Home at Denison and was cared for there until her death. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith. Surviving relatives include nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, one sister and three brothers.
