Tommy M. Smith, 71, passed away Friday, August 1, 2008. He was a resident of Mason, MI and formerly Lansing, MI.

Tommy was born March 26, 1937, in Light, Arkansas the son of Lottie and Hester (Mahan) Smith. Tommy moved to Michigan when he was a teenager and was Michigan resident from then on, living and raising his family in the Lansing area.

He was a proud and dedicated employee of General Motors for 41 years. Tom enjoyed listening to country music at every opportunity.

Most of all, Tommy loved his family and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend will be dearly missed by all. A kind and gentle soul has left this world but will never be forgotten.

Tommy was preceded in death by his brother, Sonny Smith. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Virginia (Allison); children, Debbie (Don) Torok and Scott Smith; sisters, Wanda (Roy) Slatton, Geneva Rowe, Viola (Earl) Jones, Mona Doris Howard and Ila Robertson; and grandchildren, Jamie and Dustin Torok. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services were held, Tuesday, August 5, 2008, 11:00 a.m. at the Palmer, Bush & Jensen Family Funeral Home, Holt Chapel, 5035 W. Holt Rd., Holt, MI with the Rev. Fr. Alan Wakefield officiating.

Interment followed in Liek Cemetery. The family received relatives and friends, Monday, August 4, 2008, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions were made to the American Heart Association or a charity of one's choice in memory of Tommy. Condolences can be sent to the family at www.palmerbush.com
