Canadian statesman. A native of Aylmer, now Gatineau (Québec), he studied at the Victoria College in Cobourg, at the Medical Albany College in the State of New York where he graduated in medicine. Then, he studied law at McGill University in Montreal where he graduated in 1857. He was admitted with the Bar of Lower-Canada on February 7, 1859. He practised first in Aylmer, then moved to Montréal. He became President of the "Pontiac Pacific Junction Railway Co" and of the "Upper Canada Towing and Steamboat". He was also Director of the "Ottawa Agricultural Insurance Co" and member of the first board of directors of the Bank of Ottawa in 1894. Moreover, he served as Governor of the College of the physicians and surgeons of Lower-Canada. In 1867, he was elected Conservative representative for Ottawa. The year after, he was appointed Crown prosecutor for the district of Ottawa. He did not represent himself in 1871. He was created Queen's Counsel ouncil in law on October 22, 1874. Without opposition, he was elected to the Legislative Assembly as the representative for the district of Pontiac in the by-election of October 26, 1874, then at the general elections of 1875. He served as Attorney General of the Province in the Boucher de Boucherville cabinet , from September 22, 1874 to January 25, 1876 and as Provincial Treasurer in the same cabinet, from January 25, 1876 to March 8, 1878. Again, he was elected in 1878. He did not represent himself in 1881. Named Judge at the Queen'S Bench Court, he served there from October 25, 1887 to January 7, 1892. He died in Lorne Park, near Toronto.
