Sonja Janeen Lawson 1951-1993

Services for Sonja Janeen Lawson, 42, of Colorado City were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church, Colorado City, with Dr Travis Monday and Rev. Pat Savage officiating.Included in the service were Sonja's songs, "It’s My Desire," "I Want to Spend My Life Mending Broken People," and "Wind Beneath My Wings " Friends and relatives from El Paso, Arizona, Idaho, Lubbock, Lamesa, Plains and San Angelo attended.

Pallbearers were Avan Ceballos, Kevin Green, Scott Galcy, Jeff Potter, Greg Parker, Cade Proctor, George Ramsey and Mark Smith.

Burial was in Colorado City Cemetery. Sonja died October 2, 1993 in an automobile accident.Sonja was born June 4, 1951 in Lamesa, Texas She was a graduate of Lubbock High School where she had been a cheerleader and was voted Most Beautiful, Friendliest, FFA Sweetheart and Baseball Sweetheart. She attended Odessa College, graduated from El Paso Business College, and was the secretary at Colorado City Middle School. She had lived in Colorado City for 12 years and was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, one of the sponsors of the Dare to Care program in Colorado City, participated in the B&PW State Convention, various school and church functions. Lions and Kiwanis Clubs and was a very well known religious singer in and around Colorado City.

Survivors include a son, Jason Lawson, 19, of Canyon, TX, daughters Jennifer and Sarah Lawson, ages 16 and 12 respectively, of Colorado City, parents Alvie Faulkcnbcrry Jr and Peggy Faulkcnbcrry of Colorado City, brother Alvie Faulkcnbcrry III of Dallas, sister Vickie Faulkcnbcrry of Colorado City, and one nephew, Alvie Faulkenberry IV, of Dallas. The family suggests memorials to Dare to Care, Mothers Against Drunk Drivers, Calvary Baptist Church and West Texas Rehab Center.
