Born in Beverly, Mass.,he was the son of the late Stephano and Ersilia(Marchioni) Abbondanza. He lived in Beverly most of his life; he also lived in Salem for 10 years. He was a retired office manager for J.A. Mercier Plumbing and Heating Co. in Danvers for 40 years, retiring in 1993.
He was treasurer of the Italian Community Center, a member of the Patria E.Lavoro Society and St John the Evangelist Church.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Paula and Stephen Mason of Beverly, and Susan and Daniel Phillips of Pompano Beach, Fla.; a son, and daughter-in-law, Richard. and Celeste L. Abbondanza; a sister, Victoria Abbondanza of Beverly; six grandsons, Matthew, Brandon and Brett Mason, and Dominic Abbondanza, all of Beverly, and Brian and Nolan Phillips of Florida; several nieces and nephews. He was also brother of the late Anthony and Richard Abbondanza and Florence Pimenta.
Funeral on Monday from the Campbell Funeral home, Beverly, followed by a funeral Mass at St John the Evangelist Church, North Beverly. Burial in St Mary's Cemetery, Beverly.
