As I recall, my parents were originally introduced by mutual friends and their first 'date' was at the Miami County Fair. My mom was still in high school and my dad was around 22-23 years old at the time. I'm not sure now how much time elapsed between that first meeting and their marriage but that took place in Petersburg, VA on June 26, 1941, right after my mom graduated from high school at Newton Local. My dad was in the army by that point and that's why the nuptials took place outside of Ohio. Pop came home for good in 1945 and continued working at the Troy, Ohio post office, where he was working when he was drafted. My mom and dad had four daughters and then I came along and that was that.
Lots more could be written here and maybe I will do that some other time. I'll just close this by saying that I miss my mom a great deal and that nothing is quite the same without her here. I'm sure that's pretty much how most people reading this who have lost their mothers would feel.
