Emma Bocock was born 23 June 1843, Ecclesall-Bierlow, York, England, United Kingdom at the Broadfield Toll Bar on Abbeydale Road, where her father, William Bocock, was the tollgate keeper. She was the youngest child and fourth daughter of William Bocock and Sarah Brough. After their deaths, she along with her older sisters Hannah and Elizabeth, joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and embarked in 1857 on the ship George Washington to emigrate to the Salt Lake Valley. She first married Charles Law, by whom she had one surviving son, Francis Joseph. After his death, she married Alma Moroni Blanchard, by whom she had four surviving children, Medora Blanchard [Hickenlooper], Alma Moroni Blanchard, Jr., Sarah Elizabeth Blanchard [Ferrin], and Byron Blanchard. She died of the complications of childbirth 21 March 1873, Springville, Utah, Utah Territory.
