Jack, 90, of Lansing, passed away February 7, 2012.

He was an active member of First United Methodist Church; a graduate of Lansing Eastern High School; a Veteran of W.W.II and the Korean Conflict, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was employed with the U.S. Postal Service for 31 years, retiring in 1971.

Jack was a City of Lansing Council Member from 1969 to 1981; a Life Member of Lansing Lodge #33 F.& A.M.; member of the Grand Rapids Consistory, and the Elf Khurafeh Shrine Temple. He was a former Lansing Area Safety Council Board Member; member of Mt. Moriah American Legion Post #460, Morley S. Oates Post #701 V.F.W., Capital Detachment Marine Corps League, and First Marine Division Association. Jack was instrumental in the continuation of Lansing's Veteran's Day and Memorial Day Parades.

He was a Past President of the Lansing Exchange Club; member of the Old Newsboy's Association and Box "23" Club.

Surviving are: son, James (Shelley) Gunther of St. Johns; 6 grandchildren; 2 great-grand children; brother, Donald (Ellen) Gunther of Lansing; 2 sisters, Audrey Magee of Lansing and Beverly Baeger of Ionia; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Gunther in 2009 and sister, Mary Ann Bradley in 2012.

Funeral services were held Saturday, February 11, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church, Lansing, with The Rev. Melanie Baker officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to Lansing Exchange Club Youth Foundation or the Old Newsboy's Association.
