OBITUARIES

CLARENCE E APPLEGATE

Clarence E. Applegate of Hilltown Township died Friday, Oct. 7, 2011, at his home. He was 80.

He was the husband of Marie (Ganssle) Applegate. The couple celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary on Feb. 12, 2011.

Born in Easton, Pa., he was the son of the late Clarence R. and Emma Elizabeth (Trumbauer) Applegate, and the stepson of the late Regina (Kramer) Applegate.

He served with the U.S. Navy.

Mr. Applegate worked as a carpenter and then foreman for Happ Construction, Doylestown for 40 years, retiring in 1992.

He was a member of Our Lady of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Hilltown, where he was active with the Church Carnival Committee over the years.

Mr. Applegate was a life member and past President of the Dublin Lions Club. He was also a member and past President of the Pennridge Community Senior Center, Silverdale, Pa., where he was very active in it's building project.

He was one of the founding members of the Deep Run Valley Sports Association, where he coached Little League and was inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame in 1996.

An avid hunter and fisherman, he also enjoyed woodworking, having crafted small toys and birdhouses. His interests also included gardening and going on bus trips.

Surviving with his wife are three daughters: Linda Beer and her husband, David of Quakertown, Mary Koenig and her husband, Greg of Springtown, Pa., and Kelly Cox and her husband, Steve of Quakertown; seven sons: Kenneth Applegate of Perkasie, Scott Applegate and his wife, Kathleen of Chalfont, Gene Applegate and his wife, Kathy of Quakertown, Eric Applegate and his wife, Mary Beth of Telford, John Applegate and his wife, Lori of Perkasie, James Applegate and his wife, Kristin, and Charles Applegate and his wife, Beth, all of Quakertown; 21 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Hilltown. Interment will be in the Parish Cemetery. Bernard Suess Funeral Home, Perkasie.
