Robert Samuel Cook, Jr., age 82, of Redding, CT died peace fully on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at Danbury Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of Jean (Restivo) Cook. He was born in the Bronx, NY, July 1, 1929, son of the late Robert and Ellen Cook. He was a graduate of NYU with a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and served in the Army Infantry as a Sergeant during the Korean War. He received the Korean Service Medal with 1 Bronze Service Star. Bob has lived in Redding for the past 42 years and worked for many years at Perkin Elmer, where he worked on the formerly classified Hexagon Program and later the Hubble Space Telescope. He was a big time UCONN Huskies Basketball fan, Mets fan and loved to work around his yard. In addition to his wife of 44 years, he is survived by his daughter: Michelle Cook of Atlanta, GA. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister: Dorothy DeSaulnier. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society , 372 Danbury Rd., Wilton, CT 06897 or to St. Patrick's Church, P.O. Box 119, Redding Ridge, CT 06876. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Church, Redding, Wednesday at 10:30. Burial will follow in Redding Ridge Cemetery, Redding, CT. There are no calling hours.
