E A married 2d [Esther] Hester (Hettie) Woodrow Merrill who died Oct 1882. {Esther Woodrow was the daughter of Joseph Woodrow andNancy Chapman] E A fathered 7 known children: by the first marriage 1) Estes I Higley, born Lapeer ca 1852, died Marine City, Mich June 22,1933, who also lived at Harvey, Ill; and 2) George L Higley married Oct28, 1885 Phoebe L White of Reese, Mich, had sons William and Merrill, and lived at Yale; and by the 2d marriage he had 3) Jennie E married G Delmar Waldorph of Yale; 4) Edward H Higley married, had a daughter Mrs Emma Beardsley and son Homer Higley, and lived at Glendale, Calif; 5) Joseph W Higley, about whom more later; 6) Eliza married S J Kinney (or Kinsey) of Norwich, Ont; and 7) Hurbert died young Oct 10, 1849 and was 1 of the earlier burials in the Higley cemetery. Joseph W Higley, shown as 5th child of E A, was born April 3, 1868. died March 27, 1944, and married first Feb 1895 Libbie Butterfield (died March 22,1923) daughter of Walter Butterfield. Joseph W married 2d May 10,1927 Mrs Ervilla Chapman. He fathered 5 children: 1) Bernice Higley married Lawrence Streu; 2) Jennie married Wallace Chester and lives Calif; 3) Howard (Jack) married Doris Alt (died June 29, 1972), daughter of Clarence and Mable Alt, had S children; 4) Simcoe Higley lived Shell, Wyo; and 5) Walter Higley of Lapeer."
