Civil War Union Brevet Brigadier General. He served during the Civil War first as Lieutenant Colonel and commander of the 8th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, then as Colonel of the 14th Veterans Reserve Corps. He was brevetted Brigadier General, US Volunteers on June 27, 1865 for "meritorious services". After the war he became a prominent Trenton lawyer, and passed away there in 1904.
