Mrs. Ula Buckley Reuter, 54, veteran Jeannette school teacher, died at her home, 302 North Second, at 11:30 Monday night after a prolonged illness.
The wife of Carl Reuter, Jeannette men's clothing salesman. Mrs. Reuter missed the last term at Jeannette High because of the illness. She began teaching again last fall but was only in her classroom for a few weeks when her failing health forced her to ask for another leave of absence.
One of the Jeannette public school system's long-time faculty members, Mrs. Reuter was a local teacher for 32 years. She began her career in the grad schools in 1916 and taught 14 years before joining the JHS faculty in 1930 as a civics and social science instructor.
A native of Jeannette, the teacher was born April 2, 1897, the daughter of Mrs Mary E. and the late Alvin Buckley, pioneers of Jeannette. She attended Jeannette High before going to Indiana Normal and later obtained her bachelor of arts and master's degrees at Pitt.
Besides her husband, survivors of the life-long First Presbyterian Church member include her mother and four brothers: James A. Buckley, Clair Buckley, both of Jeannette; Jacob Buckley, Vandergrift, and David Buckley, Youngwood. There are also two stepchildren: Mrs. Vance Little-John, Greensboro, N.C., and Carl Reuter, Jr., Los Angeles.
Friends will be received at the Reuter home. The Rev. Lloyd D. Homer will officiate at funeral services at 2:30 p.m. Friday, and interment will follow in Irwin cemetery.
