Major League Baseball Player. Born in Talladega, Alabama, he was an outfielder for the Negro League Homestead Grays when he made his debut for the Cleveland Indians on July 1, 1952. For four seasons, he played with the Cleveland Indians (1952, 1954) and Baltimore Orioles (1955-56). He finished his career with a record of 146 hits, 75 runs scored, 12 homeruns, 73 runs batted in and a .265 batting average. Following his baseball career, he worked as a counselor, director of recreation in Cleveland and as an amateur baseball coach. He died at age 78 in Cleveland, Ohio, and is a member of the Ohio Baseball Hall of Fame.
