John and Lizzie were married on September 17, 1884 in Wayne County, Iowa and they had seven children together including: Alta Grace, Alma Fern, Lucy Jane, Bessie Leona, Ray Burton, Etta Lu and John William Ryun. John was the son of William W. Ryun and Lucy Ann (Burton) Ryun.

His death certificate states he was born December 10, 1853 and most of the census records would also point to that being the correct date and not Dec 1852. Some family trees have his birth date as December 10, 1854, but I do not believe that is correct. I think he was born a few months prior to the actual marriage date of his parents in February 1854.
