Sergeant Vincent E. Goslyn, Jr., 28, of Cadillac, Mich., was a Quartermaster and Chemical equipment repairer, assigned to 4th Battalion, 101st Aviation Regiment, 159th Combat Aviation Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). He joined the Army in February 2005 and arrived at Fort Campbell in June 2008. Sgt Goslyn died on Friday, February 3, 2012, in Christian County, Kentucky. He was 28. He was born on Sept, 23, 1983, in Louisiana, the son of Vincent Gosyln and Rhonda J. Rippenkroeger. He was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army and was assigned to the 4th Battalion of the 101st Aviation Regiment, 159th Combat Aviation Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) and was a Quartermaster and Chemical equipment repairer. He was stationed in Fort Campbell, KY. He had just returned from his second tour in Afghanistan. He loved every moment with his children and enjoyed playing disc golf, ice fishing, playing chess and working on his cars. His awards and decorations include: Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon and North Atlantic Treaty Organization Medal. He is survived by his children, Kevin Foster of Cadillac, Joshua Goslyn of Houghton Lake, and Emma Goslyn, Joseph Goslyn and Grace Goslyn of Kentucky; a sister, Seirra Goslyn of Cadillac, his father, Vincent Goslyn Sr. of Oklahoma and his mother, Rhonda J. Rippenkroeger of Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Charles Goslyn, Sr. who is also buried at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. A visitation was held from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2012, at the Farley-Estes and Dowdle Funeral Home, 105 Capital Ave. Northeast, Battle Creek, MI 49017. Funeral services to celebrate Vincent's life were held at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home, officiated by the Rev. James L. Sparks. Interment with full military honors followed at Ft. Custer National Cemetery, Battle Creek.
