Douglas Palmer Bahr, age 62, of Avoca, died on Sunday, February 5, 2012 at his home.

Doug was born on June 22, 1949 in Richland Center, Wisconsin the son of Giles and Ruth (Dietzman) Bahr.

On June 2, 1995 Doug married Cyndie Jacobson.

For 44 years Doug owned and operated his own business Bahr's Auto Repair. He was a member of The Avoca Development Corporation for 45 years.

Doug was also a past member of the Avoca Fire and Rescue Squads, where he served for many years and was a dedicated past member of the Riverdale School Board.

Doug was on the board for the Country in the Country and now the Country at the Crossroads from the start.

For many years, he was known as Papa River Rat to the River Rat Racing/Demo Derby team.

He enjoyed 57 Chevy's, tractor pulling, country music and western movies. For many years, Doug was Santa Claus for the Avoca Christmas Bazaar.

Riverdale wrestling was a sport Doug participated in and was also able to share with his sons and grandsons.

Doug is survived by: his wife Cyndie of Avoca; his daughters: January (Donnie) Walton of Arena, Sara (Rickey) Christianson of Cashton; his sons: Donavan (Kim) Nalepinski of Avoca, Damion (Michelle) Nalepinski of Boaz;

Doug is further survived by his grandchildren: Bryndl, Gabriel and Thayn Nalepinski, Nicki and Kristi Roeben, Cory Copus, Drayden Nalepinski, Tayt Caraway, Ethyn and Tayiah Johnson, Logan and Caden Christianson;

Doug is also survived by his siblings: Judy (Tim) Brown of Muscoda, Ric (Ardyth) Bahr of Lutz, FL, Pam Bahr of Dodgeville, Randy Bahr of Clearwater, FL, Terry (Deena Kovars) Bahr of Avoca, Jim (Penny) Bahr of Barneveld, Sandra (Jeff Pippen) of St. Petersburg, FL, Perry Bahr of Verona; his sisters-in-law Lynn Laufenberg, and Lea Bahr; his brother-in-law Larry Cannoy; his God Child Michelle Cannoy Brud; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents Giles and Ruth Bahr, his sister Kristine Penny Bahr, and his granddaughter Danyka Rose Nalepinski.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. at the Avoca Village Hall Gymnasium in Aovca, with Pastor Joel Bauman officiating.

Burial will be held at the Avoca Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Godager - Pratt Funeral Home in Muscoda on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., where a brief prayer service will be held at 7:00 P.M.

Friends may also call on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at the Avoca Village Hall from 12:00 P.M. until the time of the Funeral Service at 1:00 P.M.
