Her obituary from the Sumter County Journal: "Funeral services for Mrs. Celeste Cameron Byrd were held on Thursday, March 28, 1996 at 3:00 p.m. from Siloam Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Card and Rev. Mike Ragland officiating. Burial followed in Siloam Cemetery. Mrs. Byrd, 82, of Cuba, died Tuesday, March 26, at Hill Hospital in York. A Sumter County native, she was an active member of Siloam Baptist Church and the Light Bearers Sunday School Class. Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Alan Byrd of Cuba; two sons: Herbert Alan Byrd and Ralph Byrd both of Cuba; one brother: Preston Cameron of Cuba; two sisters: Edris Byrd of York and Erma Lois Shore of Mocksville, NC; four grandchildren: Steve Byrd, Sherry Byrd, Susan Campbell, and Marie Byrd; and three great grandchildren: Shannon Byrd, Shelby Campbell and Haley Campbell. Pallbearers were Melvin Cameron, Clarence Byrd, Jr., Bobby Williams, Joe Bedwell, Gary Hornsby, and Carl McDonald. Honorary Pallbearers were members of the Brown Bible Sunday School Class and Light Bearers Sunday School Class. Roy Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements."
