Mr. Fletch Etheridge died Sunday morning with erysipelas and was buried Monday at Sandy Branch Cemetery.

Co. B, 5th Tennessee Inf., CSA
Enlisted 20 May 1861. He was wounded three times, including the loss of sight in one eye (a permanent highway maker in Mansfield, near Paris, TN documents one incident in which he was wounded). In March 1864, 7th Cavalry was detailed to escort TN's Governor Isham Greene Harris to Paris. Near Mansfield they encountered a detachment of Federal soldiers, and a spirited engagement took place. The federal force retired with two killed including their major in command. William lost the sight in his left eye in the Battle of Shiloh in 1862.
