It was with sincere sorrow that the many friends of Mrs. Annie E. Gray learned of her death, which occurred at her home at Elliottsburg Thursday morning of last week. Mrs. Gray had been in ill health for several years, suffering from an incurable malady, but she was patient and uncomplaining, and very few realized that her end was so near.
Mrs. Annie E. Gray was a daughter of the late John Snyder, of Elliottsburg. She was married to James A. Gray, Esq., one of the prominent men of the county, who was elected Sheriff of the county in 1877. Their surviving children are J. Mac Gray, Clayton T. Gray, Winfield S. Gray, Mrs. Edward Reapsome and Mrs. Nevin Mohler, all of Elliottsburg; Mrs. Joseph D. Smith, of Lancaster county, and Miss Laura Gray, at home. One brother, John C. Snyder, of Harrisburg, also survives.
Mrs. Gray was a devout christian, a member of the Lutheran church, and an affectionate mother, kind friend and good neighbor. The gentle influence of her life is a blessed heritage to her sorrowing children, to whom we extend our sincere sympathy.
The funeral took place on Saturday, the services being conducted by Rev. G. A. Royer. Interment in the Lutheran cemetery in Elliottsburg.
