--------------
from the Republican for March 1, 1923:

Tamerack – Matilda Leach Keeney was born in Kentucky in 1831 and came to Indiana when two years of age. She was the fourth of a family of seven children born to Enos and Elizabeth Gibson Montomery Leach, two of whom still survive – James Leach, of Lizton, and Mrs. Jane Burnett, of Sedan, Kansas. She was married to John Franklin Keeney in 1852. To them were born nine children, three of whom, with the husband, preceded her to the home beyond. The living are Enos B. Keeney, John W. Keeney, Mrs. Lucinda King, Mrs. Margaret Schenck, Mrs. Emily VanArsdale and Mrs. Julia Overstreet. She leaves fifteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She confessed her faith in Christ at an early age and united with the Primitive Baptist church at White Lick. She lived a good life, was a kind wife and a devoted mother. “Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her own works praise her in the gates.”
