On January 26, 1916 he married Esther Leora McCollum in Breckenridge, MO. She died in 1938.
Orville farmed in the Lock Springs, MO area before becoming the grounds keeper at the Chillicothe Country Club for 12 years. He then went to work for Missouri Public Service Co and was transferred to Clinton, MO where he worked for several years. He the became the caretaker for the Clinton parks.
