SPRINGVILLE - Mrs. Fannie Oakley, 83 widow of James Oakley, black Hawk Indian war Veteran, died at 11 p.m. Sunday of ailments incident to age at the home of a son, Ernest Oakley, South Second West Street.

She was born May 18, 1852, at Denby, Derbyshire, England, a daughter of Richard and Hannah Butler Palfreyman. She came to Utah in 1863, and lived for a short time in Salt Lake City. A year later she joined the family at Springville, and had lived here since. She had been active in LDS Church work, serving in the Relief Society a number of years. She was married to James Oakley, July 18, 1869, in the endowment house in Salt Lake City.

Surviving are four sons and daughters, R. Delos and Ernest Oakley, Mrs. Daniel Sumsion and Mrs. W.L. Parry, Springville; a granddaughter, Mrs. Emma Long and 19 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren; a brother and there sisters, Mrs. Polly Atwood and Mrs. Annie Brown, Spanish Fork; Mrs. G.S. Condie and Dennis Palfreyman, Springville.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the LDS Second ward chapel, with burial in the City Cemetery under the direction of A.Y. Wheeler Mortuary.
Friends may call at the Ernest Oakley residence prior to services.
