Mr. DeGruy of Santa Barbara, California, lost his life as the helicopter he was flying in went down shortly after takeoff in Australia. He was an award winning filmmaker who hailed from Mobile, Alabama. He worked closely with James Cameron on several projects and it was said he was in Australia working on a documentary for National Geographic. Mr. DeGruy had won multiple Emmy and British Academy of Film and Television Awards for his work. Some of his works included: Life in the Freezer, Trials of Life, The Blue Planet and Pacific Abyss.
