Arthur LAITALA, 71, Rt. 6, Rochester, died at 11:45 p.m. Saturday at his Liberty Township residence following a three-month illness. He was born June 13, 1919 in Chisholm, Minn., to William and Katri KEMPPEINEN LAITALA. He moved from Minneapolis, Minn., to Fulton County in 1968. He operated a machine shop. On April 20, 1968 he married Alma Ruth STINGELY, who survives. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving with General George Patton's unit in the European Theater. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge at Hopkins, Minn. Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Mrs. Ronald (Irene) GUERTA, Buffalo, Minn., and Mrs. James (Eunice) BROOKE, Kenosha, Wis.; three sons, Einar and Neil [LAITALA], Circle Pines, Minn., and David [LAITALA], Clearmont, Minn.; five grandsons; a granddaughter, and two brothers, Ed [LAITALA], Chisholm, Minn., and Sulo [LAITALA], Minneapolis, Minn. Preceding in death were three brothers. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Zimmerman Family Home, Fulton, with the Rev. Kathryn KUNZ officiating. Burial will be in the Fulton Cemetery where the American Legion and the VFW posts will conduct military rites. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and after 9 a.m. Wednesday. Memorials may be made to the Fulton United Methodist Church or the Fulton County Cancer Society.
