Excerpt from her obituary:
"Graduating from Bluffton High School in 1932 she managed an ice cream store for Swift & Co. Dairy where she witnessed the Bluffton Bank robbery by the Dillinger gang. She attended Tiffin Business College when she went on a blind date with Heidelberg student, Myrl D. Hull. They married in Bluffton on October 9, 1938. In 1940, they purchased the Porter-Hull Funeral Home in Kenton, later known as the Myrl D. Hull Funeral Home which they co-owned for thirty years until they retired in 1970. They were members of the First United Methodist Church in Kenton. Kay was a long time member of the Daughters of American Revolution (D.A.R) and she was a past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star and achieved 75 years of membership in the Order of the Eastern Star in 2010. Myrl preceded Kathryn in death in 1984. Kay moved to Chelsea, Michigan in 1990 where her daughter Susan Hull Beard resides."

In reference to the Dillinger gang robbery, Kay loved to tell how Dillinger actually came into the ice cream store while she was working and stood eating his ice cream while casing out the bank across the street! Of course, she only knew who he was and what was happening after the fact!

Kay was very proud of the fact that she was a member of the Eastern Star for 75 years and that she was a member of the DAR. Kay loved her family, was a gracious woman and knew her own mind about many things.
