Nelson Edward McHugh, 68, of 1937 Abercrombie Rd., Honea Path, SC died at home on Thursday morning.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Acker McHugh; son, Scott McHugh and wife, Karla, of Buford, Ga.; daughter, Tammy Young and husband, Darell, of Monticello, Ga.; grandchildren, Jeremy Young, Jennifer McHugh and Brian McHugh; great-grandchildren, Chase Young and Caitlyn Young; sister, Joyce Westmoreland of Hoschton, Ga.; and brother, David McHugh of Snellville, Ga.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Grady Charles McHugh and Gaynell Holland McHugh; his brother, Charles McHugh; and sister, Imogene Burgamy.
He was a deacon at Shady Grove Baptist Church in Belton, South Carolina and a member of Gideons International. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and a friend to all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held at Shady Grove Baptist Church, 1201 Shady Grove Road, Belton, SC on Saturday, December 22, 2007, at 2 p.m. with Dr. Brian Saxon and Rev. Ralph Carter officiating. Burial will follow at Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at a reception in the Family Life Center at Shady Grove.
Honorary Pallbearers will be members of Gideons International and Ladies Auxiliary.
