A graveside service for Vera I. Rambeau of Portland will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in the Masonic Cemetery, McMinnville.
Ms. Rambeau died May 10, 2001, in Lawrence Convalescent Center, Portland. She was 86.
She was born July 31, 1914, in Whiteson, the daughter of Thomas and Della Golladay Snodgrass. She was raised in Oregon.
She worked as a waitress in Portland, first at the Chicken Coupe Restaurant and later at the Cloud Room, during World War II. She lived in McMinnville until 1950, then moved to North Bend, where she was a dispatcher for the Radio Cab Co. She also worked at the Broiler Restaurant in North Bend.
She moved to Portland in 1962. She took vocational training, earned her General Equivalency Diploma and graduated from business college. She then did payroll and clerical work and managed the cafeteria for Goodwill Industries. She retired in 1976.
She became an active volunteer in the Foster Grandparents Program at the Perry Center in Portland.
She enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren, and also liked cooking, painting, reading and gardening.
Survivors include a daughter, Roberta Avery of Tualatin; three sisters, Wilma Griffith of North Bend, Reta Wilson of San Diego, Calif., and Betty Horten of Billings, Mont.; four brothers, Charles Snodgrass and Tom Vining, both of Coos Bay and Marvin Vining and Ron Vining, both of Salem; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Pearl Manning and a brother, Quay Snodgrass.
