Abbie Eunice “Toupie” Garton, age 98, of Sumner, died Tuesday, December 23, 2014, at her home.

A funeral service will be Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Wright-Baker-Hill Funeral Home in Brookfield with Gail Brown officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Sumner. Visitation will begin Friday at 1:00 p.m. and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 in the evening.

Memorials to Lakeside Cemetery or Sumner American Legion Auxiliary may be left at or mailed to Wright-Baker-Hill Funeral Home, P.O. Box 496, Brookfield, MO 64628.

Abbie Eunice, daughter of Homer David and Leo (Foster) Clark, was born October 19, 1916 in Sumner. On July 22, 1933, she married Joseph Paul Garton who preceded her in death on August 16, 1983.

Eunice was a homemaker. She had picked geese and enjoyed playing cards for many years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Sumner and was a Charter Member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Sumner.

Survivors include one son, Eugene Garton of Sumner; three grandchildren, Paul Garton and wife, Sharon of Polo, Delores Ann King of Excelsior Springs and Joe Garton and wife, Briana of Sumner; six great-grandchildren, Conner Garton, Logan Garton, Clay Garton, Matthew Estep, Jason Estep and Wake Garton; one brother, Merlin Clark of Sumner; one sister, Laveda Hill of Cape Canaveral, Florida; and one daughter-in-law, Jeanette Garton.

Her parents; one son, Deloris Dean Garton; two sisters, Hegatha Garner and Wana Smith; and one brother, LaRoy Clark also preceded her in death.
