Jacob Sager was born in Cassel (changed spelling in 1928), Hesse, Germany and came to America at the opening of the Revolutionary War and fought with the British Army as a hired soldier (Hessian) until its close, after which he worked four years to pay for his passage to this country. Then he came to Maryland where he lived until his death. He was a farmer by trade and spoke only German as did his wife and children.
As of now we do not know who Jacob's parents were. He was married twice..first to Judith ----- and they had the following children:
Katy, Betsy, John and Jacob Jr.
He then married Barbara Friefogle and they had the following children:
Mary, Susanna, Margaret, Sarah, George Wesley Jr., Barbara and Sophia.
