Lela G. Massey went to Heaven Tuesday afternoon, December 6, 2011, at her home.

She was born in Petersburg, VA, on September 9, 1927, to John C. Gore Sr. and Tulie Mizell Gore. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Winston-Salem for forty years and she also enjoyed attending services at Old Hollow Baptist Church in Walkertown. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a bench machine operator for Fairchild Industries, and during her retirement, she enjoyed being an excellent pet sitter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, John C. Gore Jr.; a sister, Maybelle, and a grandson, Thomas.

Surviving are her daughters, Marilyn Massey of King, Melinda Simms of Clemmons; and a son, Michael Massey of Thomasville; a sister, Margret Hare of Virginia; four grandchildren, Steven, Lauren and Maegan Simms, Shannon Farley; one great-grandson, Antionne Farley; and her grand-dogs.

Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation from 6-8:00 p.m. at Salem Funeral Home, 120 S. Main St., Winston-Salem, NC, on Friday the 9th. A graveside service will be held on Saturday the 10th at 12:00 p.m. at Parklawn Memorial Park.
