Rev. Septimus Tustin D.D., who was stricken with apoplexy on Friday morning at his residence in Washington died Saturday morning. Dr. Tustin was a distinguished and leading clergyman of the Presbyterian Church for many years. He was very prominent in the Presbyterian General Assembly in 1862 in favor of a reunion of the old and new Presbyterian schools, a union he lived to see brought about. He occupied the responsible position of President of the Board of Trustees of Lafayette Collge, Easton, Pennsylvania and received his degree of Doctor of Divinity from the trustees of Jefferson College in that State. He was for a number of years pastor of the F Street Presbyterian Church, Washington City and was at various times pastor of other churches in Maryland and Pennsylvania.
