Mr. Abrams was born in Florence County, a son of the late Ellie Davis and Selina Poston Abrams. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Abrams was a retired employee of Wellman Industries and was also a member of New Vision Free Will Baptist Church, D.A.V., and a former member of American Legion Post 144.
Surviving are three sons, Ray (Cindy) Abrams of Hemingway, Steve (Becky) Abrams of Andrews and Donnie (Cyndi) Abrams of Lake City; three daughters, Wanda A. Poston and Myrtle (Jimmy) Wright, both of Johnsonville, and Brenda (Stanley) Coker of Kingstree; 22 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Irma Lee Wiggins of Charleston.
Mr. Abrams was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen Eulee Abrams; two grandchildren, Joshua Boyne and Lonnie Lewis; five sisters, Nita Davis, Nell Howell, Nada Eaddy, Mary Ham and Ruth Haselden; and two brothers, Winston Abrams and Woodrow Abrams.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, at New Vision Free Will Baptist Church, with interment following in Garden of Devotion Cemetery directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home
