Jeanette (Byrd) Bass, 77, a native and resident of Stapleton, died Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, at North Baldwin Infirmary. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her children, Tommy (Venda) Bass, Rebecca Ann "Becky" (Wayne) Tidwell, Julia Marie (Joe) Hicks, Laura Belle Bass, William Leon "Bill" Bass, all of Stapleton, and Lora Elizabeth (Tim) Barnhill of Loxley; eight brothers, Tom (Maxine) Byrd, Winfred Byrd both of Stapleton, Vonnie Ray (Barbara) Byrd of Bay Minette, Carl (Sylvia) Byrd of Robertsdale, Vermon (Alex) Byrd of Tenn., Gwyn (Carol) Byrd, Huey (Ella) Byrd and Scotty (Linda) Byrd all of Stapleton; six sisters, Lavenia (Howard) Gordon of Stapleton, Carolyn (Joe) Schimpf of Tillmans Corner, Lator (Ed) Bowen of Stapleton, Eulene (Ricky) Davis of Crossroads, Eleanor (Joe) Woolridge of Eight Mile and Shelia (William) Rolin of Stapleton; 22 grandchildren; and 39 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Thomas Bass; a son, Woodie Kelvin Bass and a sister, Linnie Belle Booker.
Funeral services were Feb. 4 at Stapleton Baptist Church with the Rev. Alan Lawhorn and the Rev. Val Obregon officiating. Burial was at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Blake Rider, James Bass, Mark Christensen, Jeremy Hicks, Corey Hicks, Jarrod Bass, Kevin Stringer and Jody Bass.
