On July 18, 2012, findagrave contributor Glenn Harris #47828902, reports that he walked the Cemetery and no headstone was found. As he was leaving, the caretaker arrived, and they checked the records. There is no record of her burial in Rock Branch, despite the newspaper article.

Melissa's name may be "Abigaile Mellissa", as per History of Woodbury County, Iowa, 1984, under the Edward Watkins entry.

Daughter of Edmund George Watkins and Catherine Stronge.

Sioux Valley News, Correctionville, Woodbury, Iowa, 9 December 1897, Page 6, Column 3. Pierson: "Mr. B. Dayton was here Monday. He came through with the remains of Mrs. Dayton who died at their home in Nebraska last week. The interment was in Rock Branch Cemetery."

Mother of possibly 17 children: six who died young (as per son Samuel's obit), names unknown; & Sarah Ann Caroline Dayton who married William Isaac Hinds; Charles H. Dayton who married Sarah "Sadie" Ann Hinds; Howard B. Dayton; Frank W. Dayton who married Grace Ella Luddington; Emily Jane Dayton who married John William Hicok; Hattie M. Dayton; Reuben(Albert Reuben) Dayton who married Sarah "Sallie" Rose; Ervis Earl Dayton who married Estella Rebecca Winchell; Anna Mariah "Maria" Dayton who married William F. Groffy; Samuel Dayton; and Polly Dayton who married 1) James P. Wright & 2) John Gossett.
