Dr. Boggs was a chemist, the head of the Chemistry Department at the Georgia School of Technology (now Institute) from 1925-1941. The chemistry building at Georgia Tech, built in 1970, was named in his honor.

The Boggs Chemistry Building was built in 1970 and named after Dr. Gilbert Hillhouse Boggs who was the Dean of the Chemistry Department from 1935 to 1941. This five story building is often said to look like the Periodic Table of Elements, and is the premier spot on campus for chemistry students.
