Ephraim West Allen is a son of William Allen (c. 1749 -15 Jan 1831) and Martha Shuffel (c.1750 - 27 Nov. 1847). He was born in Duplin Co., NC. We know this from his pension record W-20593.
Ephraim owned the land on which this cemetery is located. He gave it to his son, Henry Allen (1821-1890). His widow, Edna Ann Jones Allen(1851-1922) sold the property to Oscar Smith.
There is a large cement stone in this cemetery that marks his grave, and that of his wife, Nancy Ann Scriven.
In 1980's, when the Cemetery Books of Bladen Co., NC were being printed, one of Ephraim's elderly great granddaughters' stated that she had visited this cemetery with her family many times, and was always told that her g. grandparents were buried here.( This cemetery is recorded in Vol. III Northwestern Bladen pg.29 Cem.#43. Cemeteries of Bladen Co., NC. Bladen Stars Publication-Oct. 1988. )
Because the cemetery had been abandoned, and the land was no longer in the Allen family, a memorial stone (#10742835 and #10742836) to Ephraim & Nancy Scrivens Allen was laid at the Henry Allen Cemetery, in 1988, just a few miles south on the same road - Rt. 131.(Photograph of stone has been, errorously, posted on this page.).
